Park Eun-bin and Yum Jung-ah reunite generations on screen as estranged mother and daughter in Nam Eun-jung

Acclaimed actresses Park Eun-bin and Yum Jung-ah will share the screen for the first time in the upcoming family drama Nam Eun-jung, the feature-film debut of director Kim Dong-hoon. The production team confirmed the casting in mid-August 2026, with the project now in pre-production and principal photography expected to begin shortly.
The story centers on Kang Hyun-sook, a resilient single mother who raised three children largely on her own, and her youngest daughter, Nam Eun-jung. After years of quiet distance, sharp arguments, and unresolved misunderstandings, the pair is forced to confront the layered emotions—love, frustration, and lingering resentment—that have defined their relationship.
Yum Jung-ah takes on the role of Hyun-sook, a strong-willed woman who has held her family together through sheer determination. The veteran actress, who is marking her 35th debut anniversary this year, brings deep experience from recent films such as Smugglers, Life Is Beautiful, and Intimate Strangers.
Park Eun-bin plays the title character, Eun-jung, a daughter whose long-running friction with her mother has worn away even the remaining traces of warmth between them. The role marks Park’s return to the big screen roughly four years after The Witch: Part 2. The Other One. In the intervening period she has focused primarily on television, delivering standout performances in The King’s Affection, Castaway Diva, and the globally acclaimed Extraordinary Attorney Woo, for which she won the Grand Prize (Daesang) in the television category at the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards. She has also recently starred in The Wonderfools and the horror-rom-com Spooky in Love.
Together the two actresses bring approximately 65 years of combined screen experience to the project—an impressive pairing of a seasoned veteran and one of the most distinctive leading actresses of her generation. Director Kim Dong-hoon, previously known for commercial work that earned him two Korea Advertising Awards, makes the leap to narrative features with a story that explores the complicated, often unspoken bonds within a family.
With its intimate focus on mother-daughter dynamics and two powerhouse performers at its center, Nam Eun-jung is already generating strong anticipation among Korean cinema audiences.
